Abstract
The cross sections for the bremsstrahlung production of light extended particles is calculated with several assumptions for the electromagnetic form factor of the particle. We find that for particle radii ⩽ 100 fm a form factor does not reduce the cross sections. Instead, for a large range of radii the cross sections are actually increased because the very strong cancellation between the two contributing graphs is no longer effective. The results are of particular importance for the particle interpretation of the GSI lines and imply very severe constraints.
